Cheap Trips By Travel Agencies, To Mitigate The Impact Of Covid
According to The World Economic Forum (WEF), a non-profit organization in Geneva, Switzerland, the travel and tourism business is one of the major economic sectors, generating $8.8 trillion each year. Not just rich countries, but even emerging countries such as Vietnam, rely heavily on tourism.
The influence of Covid-19 caused havoc in the travel sector. Especially travel agencies who rely exclusively on layperson’s travel for their existence. According to the World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC), the current pandemic threatens up to 50 million travel and tourism employment worldwide. This affects not just those who wish to travel, but also those who work in the tourism business. It also reported that travel and tourism support one out of every ten jobs globally, creating 320 million jobs.
Travel firms need cash flow even without tourists and profits. To preserve cash flow during the Covid dilemma, travel agencies are providing inexpensive holiday packages at a 50 per cent discount. Until the end of next year, travellers can book tour packages and pack their bags at any time.
Phu Quoc Island is a popular tourist destination in Vietnam, and it plans to welcome vaccinated international visitors again in October. Nguyen Duc Hieu, chief sales executive at Hanoi-based tour operator Aadasia Holidays, said his company has been offering travel vouchers with discounts ranging from 20% to 50%. These offers also allow customers to stay at luxury resorts and hotels in Thanh Hoa, Phu Quoc, Hanoi, and Cam Ranh in Khanh Hoa Province. The validity of these vouchers is for one to two years.
From Hanoi to Cam Ranh, a four-day, three-night holiday package costs only VND7.3 million per person. Round-trip flights, a five-star resort, and three meals each day are all included. In comparison, a three-night combination package from Hanoi to Phu Quoc departing in October costs only VND6 million per person.
After nearly two years and four waves of Covid, travel companies are on the verge of bankruptcy, pushing them to discover methods to escape the pandemic. Even though it is the peak summer travel season, over 20 cities and towns, including Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, and famous tourist sites, have been placed under lockdown because of the deteriorating Covid crisis.
According to a survey by the Vietnam Tourist Association, up to 90% of tourism businesses are in financial trouble. According to the research, most employers have been forced to let their workers work from home without compensation.
This is not limited to Vietnam. The travel agency network in the United States and other nations offers a wide range of vacation packages to attract clients and accumulate cash flow to combat the loss caused by the Covid-19 Impact and stabilize bank balances.
